Kappabashi-dori

Kappabashi-dori (かっぱばし/合羽橋) is a fascinating street for restaurant and cafe owners to buy specialist goods.  There are many plastic food model shops, with everything from plastic sushi to plastic beer!

Budget travel tips

  • As this is an area for restaurant owners, the prices for items such as cutlery can be very cheap.

  • The plastic food can be expensive in Kappabashi, so going somewhere like Tokyu Hands in Shibuya or Shinjuku may be better if you want to buy some.

  • Walk to Asakusa after instead of taking the train.

How to get there

From Shinjuku, take the JR Chuo line (orange JR line) to Kanda station (11 mins, 160 yen), then transfer take the Metro Ginza line (orange Metro line) to Tawaramachi station (8 mins, 160 yen).
